A gablet roof, which is somewhat spoiled by the added south-side dormer on this house, and a pediment above a cutaway bay identify this simplified Queen Anne cottage of the early 1900s. This house was completed in the fall of 1904 for Margaret Smith; four similar cottages were built that same year on 7th Street between K and L Streets. Victorian detail makes a final appearance on these houses: colored glass window borders in the bays and stairway lights, porches with turned posts, brackets and cutout frieze boards and railings.
