An early-day photograph of the 1904 Inskip House shows an inset porch with two turned posts joined at the top by a cutout frieze band. That lovely amenity was lost when the sun porch was built about 1920. The only other decorative detail on the house is a piece of knob-and-cresting at the corner of the cutaway bay. Like its neighbor on the north, the Inskip House combines classic and Victorian forms in an architecture that moves from the 19th century into the modern world of the 20th. The Herbert Inskip family called this house “home” for almost forty years during which time, as one of the six children recalled, “a lot of living” went on in the roomy old house.
