  • Collection Guide (or Finding Aid) for the general HSSA photo collection. This document is a Guide for the hundreds of photograph images that have come to HSSA from a variety of sources since the organization was founded.
  • Ruth Horel Caskey Collection (links to finding aid at Online Archive of California)
    Ruth Horel Caskey was born in Humboldt County in 1895.  In 1978 she donated all her belongings to HSSA.  The strengths of the archival portion of her donation are:  photographs of Arcata and northwest California (1890-1920), documents and ephemera pertaining to Humboldt County and to Dr. Francis Horel’s medical practice (1890-1925), Horel Family photographs, diaries, and correspondence, Caskey Family photographs and correspondence, mid-20th Century practice of psychology and the development of self-help methodologies, and travel memorabilia.
  • Hodgson Family and Sound Lumber Collection. Highlights of this mid-late 20th Century photograph and ephemera collection are: mid-Humboldt County locations and landscapes especially Arcata, including Sound Lumber and neighborhood, Arcata Bottom, Samoa, Kneeland, Humboldt State University.
  • Barns were big business in Humboldt County.
    This article focuses on the barns associated with the Roberts Ranch.
