Wagner Block

11th, J, 12th. & K Streets

Built: 1919-1923

Period: Craftsman Architecture c. 1910-1930

After a lull in construction during World War I and the Spanish flue epidemic, Judge Wagner and contractor Burrell teamed up to do something about the housing shortage. In 1919, the entire block was purchased to construct craftsman style homes with low pitched gable rooflines, wide eaves lined with exposed rafter tails, triangular knee braces in the gables, multi-paned upper window sashes, tapered veranda pillars on piers and gable lattice work.
